Day 14--Farewell to Sioux Falls and on to Ankeny, IA

We spent the morning chatting over breakfast and strolling around downtown Sioux Falls with Val and Nathan.  We went to the library were Val works and walked along the river behind their apartment.

Here is the 8th wonder of the world--a parking garage built over the Sioux River!  Who thinks of these things?!  We are all thankful that it is going to be torn down.

Val and I played racquetball while Nathan and Phil solved the world's problems.

We went out for a lunch of enchiladas and sangrias to celebrate Val's birthday (May 19th).  Then we had to say goodbye to our good friends.

On our way to Kristen, Jon, and Anastasia in Ankeny, IA we made a couple stops in my old stomping grounds in northwest Iowa.  From the safety of the car, I took Phil on a driving tour of Dordt College and Sioux Center.  Keep all hands, feet, and minds inside the car, please!  Then we made a stop in Le Mars (the self-proclaimed "ice cream capital of the world") for a scoop of Blue Bunny ice cream.  They still had my favorite flavor--Huckleberry!!  From there, we drove nonstop (Aurelia slept the whole time!) and reached Ankeny right before sundown.
