Day 1--SF to Ashland, Oregon

It's hard to leave San Francisco when the weather was as nice as it was yesterday.  After a quick pit stop at Lou's for an iced latte and a delicious breakfast sandwich we were off!

Goodbye SF!

Aurelia was actually pretty great during the drive, but we forgot to take pictures of her sleeping.  Plenty of time to add those though.

We're driving my parent's '96 Ford Expedition, which is AWESOME for everything but its gas mileage.  We filled up with gas just outside of Redding, $85 and there was still a quarter tank left!    Here's a picture of Aurelia with Mt. Shasta in the background; no big deal.
We almost drove into a volcano.

We arrived in Ashland Oregon at 5:30 and are staying with friends from San Francisco--Eping, Annie, and Natalie Hung.  Ashland is a quaint little town with a nice park and redbrick downtown area.

Aurelia helped me finish my ribs.
And then we saw duckies.

The plan was to head up to Crater Lake National Park for day #2 but lo (shorty got lo lo lo lo) and behold, that place gets 44 feet of snow a year and the only road open is just to the top of the rim.  Needless to say the campsites are all closed right now.  So day #2 we'll be hitting up the Oregon Coast--do I smell sea lion cave?!

  2. Love the picture of Phil and Aurelia in front of Mt. Shasta! Thanks for doing the blog! Last night Keith and I went for a 2 hour Hawaiian Massage and then to this fancy resteraunt, the Plantation House for dinner at sunset. It was incredible. Then we came home and practiced making Aurelia a cousin =) hahaha just kidding. Honestly, he passed out in his dinner clothes after 5 mins of coming through the door. We are both still recovering from the wedding madness. We woke up again today to the sounds and smell of the ocean. Heading out soon to our 4 hour snorkeling adventure! Love you guys!

  4. I think that Ford Expedition could have taken the snow at Crater Lake ... but maybe not Phil?? Reminds me of RPI - "I can't make it to LARP today because of the rain!"

Swing by Devil's Tower, you won't regret it! And skip Wall Drug, even though you'll be seeing signs for it for days!
